There, at Yasgurs Farm, was the true Woodstock Reunion. Roy Howard and Jeryl Abramson had focused on this event since last August (1996) when, what started as a relative small impromtu gathering, turned into a crowd that numbered in the thousands.
Planning to make the reunion an annual event, they invested uncountable hours and many thousands of dollars in improvements to the property. Plus, the barn was set up as a year-round concert facility. Bear in mind....This was to be a free concert with only a $10 charge for parking.

Earlier in the year, Roy and Jeryl had faced similar violations for last year's gathering and saw the case dismissed. Granted, the local municipalities had exempted other events from the permit requirement (Air Shows, etc). But this was Woodstock-related... And based on past attempts to obtain festival permits, they knew that filing would be nothing but wasted effort.

In an attempt to stop the reunion, an injunction against the Roy Howard was filed by local politicians. This was granted by the New York State Supreme Court and Howard was forbidden from promoting, aiding and/or abetting the promotion of, or even advertising the possibility of, a Woodstock Reunion on his property under penalty of Contempt. |
| Their website was taken off-line.. 'No Trespassing' signs were posted on the property, and individuals who had planned to help at.. or perform at.. the reunion were informed of the situation. Inquiries were answered with the news about the injunction. Visitor's plans were kept...or cancelled. |
