A flash from the past...back to where it all began.
Here you will find pictures that have literally survived the concert and the test of time.

Debbie Stelnik says she found these 1969 Polaroids hidden in a drawer several years ago.
Way to go Debbie...take a bow! You were the first exhibitor on the block.

By Debbie Stelnik ( Debbie_Stelnik@sonymusic.com ).

My family and I were vacationing in White Lake, New York in 1969. I was about 11 years old. We were residing in a campsite off Highway 17B. It was located approximately 2 miles away from where Yasgurs' farm was located. Highway 17B was the only direct route to the farm. The cars were stalled on the highway. It was one big parking lot. There were hippies stuck in traffic everywhere. It took 4 hours to go 2 miles.

Here's some great pictures from our new friend, Bobbi Pabst ( or as she is known now ladybear@snowcrest.net ) who actually picked herself out in the Woodstock movie scene where Tom Law is teaching yoga breathing exercises (She's in the headband). Talk about Deja Vu!
Read more of her story in Woodstock Memories.

The gathering of tribes begins

Setting up the stage

LadyBear...Child of Mother Earth.

"I've lost all touch with "Sonny", the guy in the lean-to with me. We were making "God's Eyes". Classic!"

Tribe of friends from Joshua Tree, California.

I've got my memories, I've got my ticket. "I just wish I had the other 3 tickets that I purchased. I don't know what happened to the other part of this ticket. I just can't believe the number is so low. "
( Terry's Note: Also notice that the ticket only cost $6.00 per day. This was in the first group of advance sale tickets sold for the concert. In later printings, the tickets would change to $7.00 per day and, finally, $8.00 per day for the final group. )

Here's some great pictures from Bill Van Houten aka Wild Bill.
"I was not a good photographer at 17 yrs old, obviously. I would like to attend a gathering at Bethel sometime, its been a long time!" All the photos were taken on Sunday.

Infamous 17B

The lake from the Muddy hill side. Naked movies were made for commerial consumption.

Wild Bill!!

Campers starting to disperse on Sunday.

Looking towards the 'Food For Love' Stand from in front of the stage. ('Food For Love' Stand burnt down when they ran out of food and ways to rip us off.)

We helped push people's cars to 17B from our parking area.

The car we came in. Rick Hamilton, Bob Budge, Roger Ramjet. (l to r)

Nude sunbathing area.

Revolution City to the right of the stage.

We had no drugs Sunday morning on the way to the concert grounds. By the time we got to the banana stand, Roger suddenly had a joint to share.

Building on left is the banana stand on 17B. The cars are on the road to the festival grounds.

These fantastic photos are from Paul Griffin, a Photography Teacher at the International School in Bangkok, Thailand. They show a completely different angle of the event. He writes:

"I was surfing the net recently and found your neat Woodstock69 site. It prompted me to dig into my negative archives and re-print some B&W's I'd taken during that amazing weekend in Aug. I was a neophyte photographer living and working in Northampton, MA at the time. I drove all Fri. night, as far as we could get, with my future wife and two other friends, Bill and Linda. We never really got that close to the stage, so I took a few snaps of the folks around us and some of the concessions at the top of the hill."

"This is a panorama made from two separate photos taken side by side near where we were sitting for most of the concert. This was probably taken Sunday morning. I don't remember who the guy was who was scraping the mud off his Converse sneakers, but I'd like to think that maybe he went on to become an executive at Nike."

People, people everywhere...concessions on the horizon.

Same crowd...different people...

A food truck delivers the goods. The crowd looks TOO eager to help unload it!

Concession stands in MudLand.

OK, who left the water truck turned on!!

Even the side roads were packed.

Camping Out!
