Greeting From Belgium
Ever since the movie, I dreamt of visiting the original ground of "Woodstock". I knew that every year something was going on. So with 2 friends we decided to take the trip. First, I made a phone call to London. They only could help me for tickets for Saugurties and gave me a phone number from someone in New York. That was the private number of Sid Bernstein. He couldn't believe we were coming to Bethel instead of going to Saugerties.
We finally made it to New York, but Sid had already left for the Concord Hotel. We were invited there, because on 08.12.94 he turned 75. A big party was held, but he couldn't leave for Bethel as he wasn't allowed there (strange laws, you got over there...). On Sunday he made it to the ground.
There wasn't much going on Friday but, by Saturday there was about 100,000 people. At 5 a.m., it started raining cats and dogs, so the whole site was one mud place. On Sunday, most of the people left, but according to Sid a lot of people stayed for one week.
